Belgica information (en): Conspicuous peak, 450 mi, standing 5.5 mi NE of Strath Point on the SE coast of Brabant Island, in the Palmer Archipelago. A point on the coast just S of this peak was first charted and the name Lagrange applied by the BelgAE under Gerlache, 1897-99. On one of the photos published by the BelgAE the name is applied to the S tip of the island. To avoid confusion the generic term has been altered and the name applied to the peak described here. http://geonames.usgs.gov |

Belgica information (en): Cape at the north-east entrance of Larvik Harbour at the SE coast of Brabant island in the Palmer Archepelago. It was first charted by the Belgian Antarctic Expedition 1897-1899 under Adrien de Gerlache and named Lagrange. Charles Lagrange was Director of the Royal Belgian Observatory. His brother Eugène was professor et the Royal Military Academy. Both ware ardent supporters of the expedition and gave valuable advice. On one of the photos published by the Belgian Antarctic Expedition the name is applied to the Southern tip of the island. To avoid confusion the generic term has been altered and the name applied to a peak lying just North of the feature described here. |

Belgica information (fr): Cap à l’entrée nord-est du port Larvik sur la côte S-E de l’île Brabant dans l’archipel Palmer. Cartographié pour la première fois par l’expédition belge en Antarctique de 1897-1899 sous le commandement d’Adrien de Gerlache et baptisé en l’honneur des frères Lagrange. Charles Lagrange dirigeait l’Observatoire royal de Belgique. Son frère, Eugène, était professeur à l’Ecole royale militaire. Fervents partisans de l’expédition, ils fournirent quantité de conseils éclairés. Sur l’une des photos publiées par l’expédition belge en Antarctique, ce nom est attribué à l’extrémité sud de l’île. Pour éviter toute confusion, le terme générique a été modifié et le nom appliqué à un pic situé directement au nord du cap décrit ci-dessus. |

Belgica information (nl): Kaap bij de noordoostelijke ingang tot de haven van Larvik op de zuidoostkust van Brabant Eiland en de Palmer Archipel. Hij werd voor het eerst in kaart gebracht door de Belgische Antarctica expeditie (1897- 1899) onder leiding van Adrien de Gerlache die hem Lagrange noemde. Charles Lagrange was directeur van de Koninklijke Belgische Sterrenwacht. Zijn broer Eugène gaf les aan de Koninklijke Militaire Academie. Ze waren allebei fervente voorstanders van de expeditie en gaven waardevolle raad. Op een van de foto’s van de Belgische Zuidpoolexpeditie wordt de naam aan de uiterste zuidpunt van het eiland gegeven. Om verwarring te voorkomen werd de algemene benaming gewijzigd. De naam geldt nu voor een bergtop die net ten noorden ligt van de locatie die hier wordt beschreven. |
