GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Chinese research vessel "Xiang Yang Hong 10". Year of discovery: 2014. History: Xiaoman is the eighth term of "The 24 Solar Terms" and means "the summer ripe grain begins to fill full, but not mature yet". The 24 Solar Terms is the Chinese heritage and knowledge in China of time and practices developed through observation of the sun's annual motion. The ancient Chinese divided the sun's annual circular motion into 24 segments. Each segment was called a specific Solar Term. |
