GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Indonesian Navy Survey Ship "KRI Rigel 933". Year of discovery: 2022. History: Named from the "Badik", an Indonesian traditional weapon of the Makassar tribe, South Sulawesi. The badik weapon has a deep meaning in the culture of the people of Makassar. Revoking the badik is not arbitrary but used only in specific cases, such as upholding honor (customary law), defending if attacked, protecting women's dignity or defending leaders, or the State. |
