GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: U.S. research vessel "Robert D. Conrad". Year of discovery: 1966. History: "Xaxado" is the name of a dance originating from the nearby northeastern Brazil. It emerged in the 20th century as a celebration made by groups of rebels called ‘’cangaceiros’’ that fought for lands. The dance moves are related to gestures of war, and It is danced in a circle and in a single line. They are gracious but firm. Currently, Xaxado has become part of the musical genre Forró, which includes many rhythms that are part of the culture of the northeast region of Brazil.
